Why auto light sensor ?


For some applications, like digital signage, the LCD display is installed in an environment with dynamic ambient light level. Because the ambient light level varies from time to time, a fixed brightness of a LCD display might not be good enough. It could be too bright while the ambient light level is dark, and too dim while the ambient light level is strong. With auto light sensor, the monitor can auto adjust its brightness according to the ambient light environment. For example, while the ambient light level is low, the monitor brightness can auto adjust to low brightness and while the ambient light level is high, the monitor can auto adjust to high level to provide enough brightness.

The behavior pattern of Winsonic auto light sensor


There is a minimum level of the brightness for Winsonic auto light sensor. If the ambient light level is below the minimum level, the monitor will display with the minimum level brightness, and while the ambient light level is above the minimum level, the brightness of the monitor will rise according to the ambient light level. For example, if you set the minimum level of brightness as 50% ( this is Winsonic default value ) , then this monitor will always show with 50% brightness while the ambient light level is below 50% light level, and it will get brighter while the ambient light level rise above the 50% light level. If you set the minimum level as 100%, then this monitor will always show with 100% brightness.

How to install the auto light sensor ?


Because the light sensor has to receive the ambient light, users have to keep the light sensor open to the ambient light source. Winsonic usually put the auto light sensor on top of the monitor ( as picture ), yet customers can still specify the location if there is special requirement. If you are with the extension light sensor, you have to install the auto light sensor at a location that is not blocked by passengers or other obstacles.

How to set the minimum brightness ?


You can set the minimum level of the brightness through below instructions :

1. Block the light sensor with a black cloth, then go through OSD setting to set brightness as the minimum level you want, for example 30%.

2. Take away the black cloth, then you have the minimum level of the brightness 30% and the monitor will act as the above explanation of behavior pattern.
